Well, it looks like I will have access on and off to the internet. So I will post while I can.
Today began the orientation before school. I am rather torn on this point. Part of me would like to spend more time working with summer. I almost feel like it passed me by while I was doing summer school, EFY, workshops, and the big move. I am also glad to get started and to feel like I have something concrete to work with. Today was really helpful because I got to meet a lot of new people and really, to feel supported. I really feel like I love this district and that it will be a really positive change (although still a scary one).
My biggest fear is that I will not measure up. This has always been my goal, my dream. I was sick a lot in high school, well, all throughout school, and I'm nervous that this is how my former teachers, now colleagues will remember me. I really want to live up to the standard that this district stands for.
And then I remember Hitch. Yes, the movie. At the beginning, the main character says many wise things, but one of my favorite statments goes along the lines of this.
"They already said, "Yes." They're out with you. You have them. You don't have to impress them. All you have to do is to not screw it up!"
So, here's to not screwing it up.
And perhaps even impressing them.

You can do it! :) I relate to your fear--but you're going to be great! Just know that you've got a potential FUTURE educator reading your blog, wishing you well!
You'll do great. I was always impressed with you when we worked together.

Good luck.
