Quick Question

How do you teach high schoolers not to whine?

Are you objecting to the complaining itself or the whiny sound of their voices? For the latter, I had success telling my two-year-old that I couldn't hear him unless he asked nicely. He says please and everything now. :) If you don't like them grumbling about every freaking assignment you give them, I have no idea.

There is always the Bruce Willis way from THE KID..."Waaaaaah. Waaaaah. Somebody call the Waaaahbulance!"

I have the dardest time with kids whining. Little kids too. I just don't put up with it well at all. I am afraid my attitude is mostly, "you'll live.":)

Some of my girlfriends here have a hard time with whining about their spouses, and I have a hard time with that too. Mostly, unless by the end of the conversation there is something proactive said, I just don't want to listen, it is too draining!

Wait, am I whining now too?:)

Isn't that the eternal question!

Thanks for the help. I'm hoping that they'll just suck it up. They're just constantly complaining about the work load. And I've taught enough to know that it's actually reasonable.
