Since I've been busy . . .

I know that it's been a bit since I've written. In fact, quite a bit. What have I been up to?

First of all, there's the wonderful world of summer school. I actually think I like this. Most days. Like not today. I'm trying to hard to go for motivation. This is hard considering I have 22 students who somehow failed at least one semester during the regular school year. I say somehow, because it could be anything from just not turning in work, to excessive absences without making up the work, or doing the work except for the major papers and projects, etc. I have kids who hate (in some combination or to some degree) reading, writing, and school. Since I insist on all three things for them to pass, then some of them are still not passing my class. Arg! Also, I got observed at 7:45 this morning. Yes it's a Monday. We were doing vocabulary. Unsuccessfully. It was kind of, really bad. The thing is, these kids are smart. And, no, I'm not just saying it. I really like them. I really know they can do this stuff. I'm just not sure if they do. So, enough about summer school.

I've also taken the Praxis II for Speech and Debate and Theater. It's all combined and it's an insane combination of communication theory, theater construction and methods, debate and event explanations, and education . . . stuff. Not so fun. Especially since I took it at 7:30 this past Saturday. In the morning. Out at one of the local institutions. Near the city. How did I do? I either passed or failed. That's as much as I can tell you. Really.

I've tried to plan upcoming activities. Did I mention that I'm activities committee chair? Cause I am. Miss Nemesis had a very nice post about this, but somehow now that I'm in charge of it I'm not able to take some of the advice. But some of it will stay with me forever.

I've learned to knit. I'm really excited about this. As far as hobbies goes I don't have time for the ones I keep adding, but I have to say I think that this is a keeper. My favorite thing is that you can see the progress. Really, really see it. I'm not to afghans or baby booties or socks or even scarves yet, but my dishcloth skills are developing. Purling is harder than it looks.

How are things with you guys? Hope all is well.

Happy Monday!

I have ALWAYS wanted to learn knitting. I can crochet and have posted some pictures on my blog (hehe, hint hint!). You've got to post some pics. of your projects, ok?

You should try crocheting.

I was talking to my aunt the other day. She is a gung ho knitter. Always has a project. She told me that she was learning how to crochet because it was quicker to crochet a wash cloth than it was to knit one.

Oooh! Knitting is great! I'm more of a crocheter myself, because knitting is much harder, but it's fun to knit a blanket and see how quickly it goes. Please do post pics.
