With Shoeless Joe I'm having students writing their own proposal about a project or goal they would complete if they could do anything. It's turning into a huge project (it counts as their research credit that they need sophomore year). Overall, though, I think it's really helpful and authenic. This is the sort of thing that they'd need to do to receive a grant or scholarship, investors or supporters. I'll have to see how it actually turns out. I may be a bit too ambitious, but I really can't wait to see what happens.
That's my dream, for my kids to succeed.
