Nope, no flash fiction today. I was writer's blocked yesterday, so I was going to wait until I got inspiration, which is so not swift in coming. I really like practicing the little bits of writing, though, as they are more noncommital than a novel (which is my ultimate goal), but still take work.
So, back to being on topic. Yesterday I got to school after only a twelve-hour absence (7pm to 7am) that my computer seemed to have set itself back to factory settings. None of my things were there. My Shakespeare background was back to a blue screen, my start web page was the district web page (rather than the grading web page that we use to take attendance), and none of my documents were showing up in my folder.
Pain and decrepitude!
I kept checking into the computer lab next store to see when our resident computer expert would get in, while also attempting to avoid our computer lab operator who is definitely not an expert, but occupies the same technical position. He had never seen this problem. We logged in and out about five times, he explored my computer and found that we were working out of the TEMP id rather than my user name profile. Nothing seemed to help, though. He jury-rigged the computer by copying and pasting all of my important bookmarks and docs into the TEMP id and then went on his way to do more research.
After he left I decided to try something on my own. Rebooting. They always ask if you've rebooted and I hadn't tried. So, off I went to reboot and who was there to greet me once I logged in, but the wonderful William Shakespeare. I was so never so glad to see his face before.
